Look, fixies are fun. That's why I wanted one. That's why I got one. TBH, I didn't know they were fun when I bought Tuuli, but they sure seemed fun. And I was right.
The handlebars started as low and narrow drops. Then cheap flat bars from a bike co-op. And now they're some decently wide riser bars with a bit of sweep back. Makes the riding slightly more upright, which conflicts a little with the frame geometry, but I like it.
While everyone thinks of fixies as fast, she's only as fast as I am. I'm not fast. So she has a front rack, with the occasional milk crate strapped to it. That rack has led to Tuuli being my bike of choice for carrying things like christmas trees, storage crates during bike moves, skateboards, and cases of soda.
I wore out the rear hub, so I got to try my hand at wheel building, and built her a new wheel in 2022. It has purple spoke nipples. Because they're fun. It's still holding up nicely.
There's a pride flag stuck in her rear fender. I put it there during a pride parade in 2024. It'll probably live there until it either falls apart, falls off, or gets swiped by an asswipe.
